Schematic Design Phase (SD Mid Review)
Production: Power Points of 20 pages (minimum) and (2) x vertical A0
Content: To include three major parts; research/ issue/ solution
Research:
To understand the investigating area
a、 You create your method of analysis
b、 You borrow results from other people’s analysis /or research, but make use of it to reach your own conclusion
c、 Develop the employed method in a standard operational process (SOP), so that you or other people can use it step by step.
d、 Make use of SWOT to understand the area, i.e. Strength, Weakness, Opportunities, and Treats.
Issue:
To define problems or issues
a、 Urban Search: While you are “learning” the area, sense the problems or issues of the area in a preliminary state. It is a dual process.
b、 Defining your Issue: Use key wards, statements, or diagrams
c、 Defining your theme: The nature of theme is the combination of both issue and solution in an abstract means
Solution:
To answer the question you asked
a、 Strategy : key words and diagrams
b、 Paradigm Development模式發展: Conceptual solution in dialogue or debate with a similar proposal
c、 Solution: Preliminary solution in the forms of drawings /or models

Content: Develop solution in depth and create method of documentation
a、 Conditioning: Define the peripheral conditions條件carefully so that you can plow the issue in depth, and in experimental spirit
b、 Tool: Develop a method of solution finding, document it step by step
c、 Scope of work: Determine the level of the details that is appropriate for a well defined solution
d、 Concentration: Develop a working strategy so the solution is focused
e、 Format: Find the appropriate method of documenting the process and results

Two Visionary Models
方案A：開發土地的完全價值，提高人口密度，全區作整體更新﹝Birth of a new district﹞
方案B：開發土地的部分價值，保留既有的都市架構，採取｢選擇性｣的開發。
結論：我們選擇方案B

﹝氛圍﹞
有別於西門町熱鬧的商業徒步區，成都路以南多了另一種恬靜，保留舊的都市空間，舊尺度的街道，散落的文化遺產，歷史悠久的老松國小和西門國小，這裡沒有誇張的霓虹燈招牌，你可以在茂密的老行道樹旁等公車，五分鐘車程到捷運站轉車，無論你是要上班或上課……
從窗外看出去是一片平靜的水岸，河濱公園有許多運動的人、吃飽飯出來散步的老先生、比家裡的小狗跑的還快的小朋友，河岸旁的自行車道不斷的有腳踏車經過，自行車延伸到一群河岸高樓建築，再通往不同的目的地…..

﹝定位﹞
信義計畫區成功的回應了台灣的經濟需求；商辦大樓、國際企業總部、購物天堂、連綿的高級住宅等，成為此區獨特的性格。台北舊城旁的南西門町，可以有另一種城市性格的選擇，她將保留萬華舊城的氛圍，古色古香的歷史建物，三五層樓的舊式公寓住宅，小尺度的街道巷弄，陪伴著既有的傳統產業，和新興移入的居民。
﹝開發﹞
沿著淡水河有新建的複合式高層建築，住在水岸旁的家庭，假日可以悠閒的喝著下午茶，欣賞窗外的城市與河景，這裡沒有城市的擁擠，也沒有汽機車的喧囂…
﹝既有密度區﹞
街道上商店廣場林立，是市民購物休閒的好去處，傳統的美食讓觀光客愛不釋手，在高樓建築旁有居民散步的社區公園，有牽手談天的老夫妻，也有騎著腳踏車開心玩樂的小朋友們。這裡沒有緊湊的生活步調，步行5分鐘，就可到達的廣州街龍山寺，香火依舊鼎盛…。
﹝生活機能﹞
傍晚，搭乘捷運或公車的上班族們，下車經過傳統市場，便利商店，或廣州街上的小攤販，隨手帶一些食物或生活用品，幾聲噓寒問暖，幾條安靜的街道，才回到各自溫暖的窩。
